He was predeceased by: his parents, Patsy Elena Peddy and Wallace Ates; his brother Ronald Ates; and his son David Ates. He is survived by: his siblings, Linda Dianne Hansen, Betty Jane Burns (Robert) and Robert "Bobby" Dewayne Ates (Carolyn); his wife Cynthia Ates; and his children, Sheri Shields (Mike) and Michael Ates (Sara). He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Alpine First Baptist Church (7215 Shreveport Hwy, Pineville, LA 71360). A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
