She was predeceased by: her parents, Louis Ortego and Olivia Richard Ortego; her husband Leopauld Smith; her son David Smith; and her siblings, Merrick Ortego and Awol Fontenot.
She is survived by: her children, Paul Coby Smith (Karen), Daryle L. Smith (Peggy) and Keither Smith Vidrine (Adam). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
