He was predeceased by: his wife Lillie Mae Smith; his parents, Hilliard Smith, Sr. and Beatrice Carrier Smith; his children, Rose Marie Smith, Sandra Smith, Dale Smith, Johnny Walker, Melvin Walker and Hilliard Smith, III; and his siblings, Alfred Smith, Huey Smith, Sarah Ann Augman, Delores Bartley and Mary Louise Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Mark A. Smith of Patterson, Louisiana, Bobbie M. Ruffin of Patterson, Faith M. Smith of Patterson, Rosalind Williams of Patterson, Elda Johnson (Ronald Wayne) of Patterson, Jacqueline Wilson (Desire) of Houma and Tina Williams (Calvin) of Norfolk, Virginia; and his siblings, Arthur Smith of Morgan City, Louisiana and Shirley May of Patterson, Louisiana. He is also survived by twenty two grandchildren, twenty four great grand children, and one great great granddaughter.
