He was predeceased by: his wife Mittie Stevens Cortez; and his parents, Albert Cortez and Malvina Cortez. He is survived by: his daughters, Bonnie Benoit, Susie Candies (Calvin), Melinda Fahrig (Robert), Linda Ayo and Rachel Molinere (Terry). He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren.
