It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Mae Collins-Mitchell of Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on August 1, 2020, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Felix Brown-Collins and Alice Brown-Collins; her siblings, Walter Collins, Leroy Collins, Joseph Collins, Richard Castille, Gustavia Bowers, Lillian Williams, Willie Mae Weston and Clara Tyler; her grandson Donald James Jolivette, Jr.; and her son-in-law Terone Lee Freeman.
She is survived by: her children, Larry James Mitchell (Elnora) of Beaumont, TX, George Gregory Mitchell (Theresa) of Opelousas, LA, Gloria Lewis (Edward) of Missouri City, TX, Felicia Simien (John) of Opelousas, LA and Latishia Freeman-Baker (Travis) of Opelousas, LA; and her siblings, Clarence "Pop" Collins of Opelousas, LA, Peter Castille of Opelousas, LA and Lucille Collins-Jones of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
