It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rita Calligan Murray (Opelousas, Louisiana), who passed away on July 24, 2023, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leroy Calligan and Robert Lee Perry Calligan; her siblings, Joyce Lynn Mayes Comeaux and Clyde Dale Calligan; her uncle Jeff B. Perry; her aunt Linkie B. Davis; her grandparents, Robert, Bertha Perry, Leon Calligan and Lena Mae Stephenson; and her brothers-in-law, George McCullogh and Arcade Comeaux.
She is survived by: her husband Joel Murray, Sr.; her children, Joel Murray, Jr. of Opelousas, LA, Twanna Colligan Tyler (Johnathan) of Opelousas, LA and Shallon Sharaye Darjean (Juan) of Cincinatti, OH; her sister Wanda Fay McCullough of Houston, TX; and her grandchildren, Axel Lewis Tyler, Kionne Shantell Darjean, Taylor Joe Murray, Kristan NeKhole Darjean, Anaya Quanshae Murray, Destiny Zanae Murray, Kylan Joel Auzenne, Jayden DeQuan Murray, Landon Wayne Murray and Eli Carter Murray. She is also survived by other relatives and special friends.
