It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mel Sylvester Jr. (Opelousas, Louisiana), who passed away on June 27, 2020, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his daughter Krystie Weston; his parents, Mel Sylvester, Sr. and Eula Chenier Sylvester; his brother Willie Sylvester; and his grandparents, Cora Chenier Thompson and Maurice Chenier.

He is survived by: his children, Jeremy Tyler, Johnathan Weston, Melle Weston, Coretta Savoie (Stevens), Krystal Weston and Syrieta Hall; and his siblings, Calvin Sylvester, Larry Sylvester, Lou Sylvester, Sylvia Sylvester and Carleen Jones. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
