With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Sue Christian Carmichael of Opelousas, Louisiana, who passed away on February 15, 2025 at the age of 95. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Sue Christian Carmichael to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert (Penny DeWalt Christian) and Tex; her husband Charles Joseph "Charlie" Carmichael Jr.; and her siblings, Harold Christian and Virginia Christian Jordan.
She is survived by: her sons, Carl Christian (Joy) of Daphne, Ala., Charles Brian (Lisette) of Baton Rouge and Clint Daniel (Marty) of St. Amant; her sister Jo Lynnette Reesing (Tex) of Alpine; her grandchildren, Alyce B. Bordelon (John), Mary Colleen Andrew (Peter), Ellen Gugenberger (Walter), Andrew Carmichael (Maggie) and Catherine Carmichael; her great grandchildren, Madeleine Andrew, Elizabeth, Christian, Camille Gugenberger, Alice and Charles "Charlie" Carmichael; and also, Carla Mickens, Joan Pollock, Charlotte Antia, D'wan Brooks, Addie Matthews, Mary Melancon, Kristina Morman, Colleen Perkins and Tanya Kramer.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Melancon Funeral Home (4708 I-49 Frontage Rd, Opelousas, LA 70570). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Bellevue Memorial Park (110 N Market St, Opelousas, LA 70570).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Parkinson's Foundation or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
