He was predeceased by: his parents, Johnnie Mayo and Julia Ann Francis Mayo; his siblings, Josephine Mayo and Lester Mayo; and his son Brian Broussard Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Juanita Guidry Mayo of Opelousas, LA; his children, Alana Mayo of Lafayette, LA, Karnita Mayo Durisseau of Opelousas, LA, Derrick N. Mayo (Jessica) of Opelousas, LA, Kevin Mayo Sr. (Tammy) of Opelousas, LA and John Edward Mayo Jr. (LaSetta) of Eunice, LA; and his sister Dianna Mayo Neal of Forestville. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, god-children, other relatives, and friends.
