He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Joycelyn Daspit Fontenot; his sons, Andre Fontenot Knapp (Ryan) of Lafayette, LA, James R. Fontenot II (Candiace) of Sulphur, LA and Allen "Al" J. Fontenot (Lara McCallum) of Queensland, Australia.; his grandchildren, Alayna Knapp, Evan Knapp, Taylor Fontenot, James "Jay" Fontenot, Hunter Fontenot, Broc Fontenot and Allen John "A. J." Fontenot; and his parents, Allen P. Fontenot and Hester E. Fontenot. He was also cherished by family, he leaves behind a host of godchildren, cousins.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas (2845 S Union St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A rosary will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:15 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at the St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery - Grand Prairie (1074 LA-748, Washington, LA 70589).
