He was predeceased by: his parents, Viola Johnson Ford and George Simmons; his former wife Beanna Simmons; and his siblings, Robert, Marshall Ford, Vurline Simmons, Hazel Hunt, Cora Marshall and Rosie Ford.
He is survived by: his wife Merline Q. Simmons of Opelousas, LA; his stepchildren, Gilda Eaglin of Plaisance, LA, Sandra C. Sam of Plaisance, LA, Phyllis Cretchain of Opelousas, LA and Clifton Cretchain, III of Opelousas, LA; his brother Roy Ford of Galveston, TX; his goddaughters, Mary Roberts (Louis) of Opelousas, LA and Wanda Jean Ford of Galveston, TX; his brother-in-law Ruben Simmons, Sr. of Opelousas, LA; his grandsons, Jarvis Cretchain of Opelousas, LA and Aidan James Thomas of Opelousas, LA; and his cousin Shirley Senegal. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren.
