With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Duke Christopher Barnett Sr. of Opelousas, Louisiana, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 12, 2025 at the age of 67. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Duke Christopher leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Duke Christopher may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Barnett, and Norma Barnett, Jr.; and his brother Brett Barnett. He is survived by: his wife Jill Hanks Barnett; his children, Duke Christopher Barnett, II and Elizabeth Marie Barnett of Opelousas; his grandchildren, Elissa Barnett and Aliyah Barnett; and his siblings, Barry Barnett of Lake Charles and Jesse Barnett, III of Port Barre.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Sibille Funeral Home (2309 George Dr, Opelousas, LA 70570). A memorial service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the same location.
