Though Christine Ortego may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Christine Ortego touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James Richard Ortego and Emma Jean Meche Ortego; and her brother Oscar "Jimmy" Chaisson. She is survived by: her children, Phillip Edmond, Jason DeVille and Katie Edmond; and her siblings, Rick Ortego (Venise Ortego) and Carolyn Chaisson. She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home (2845 S Union St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A rosary was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home (2845 S Union St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 19th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the same location.
