He was predeceased by: his parents, Claiborne Ryder and Cecile Guidry Ryder; and his brother-in-law Randal "Randy" Herpin. He is survived by: his wife Christine Herpin Ryder; his sister Kathryn Ann Ryder Nieto (Juan) of Lafayette; his siblings-in-law, Freddie Herpin of Opelousas, Barbara LeBlanc (Mark) of Opelousas, Susan Simoneaux (Don) of Washington, Jolene Gremillion of Opelousas, Bonnie Darbonne (Dale) of Washington and Linnie Herpin of Opelousas; his nephews, Blair Joseph Herter (Jessica) of Utrecht, Netherlands and Thomas "Tommy" Eugene Herter III (Lizzie) of Lafayette; and his great-nephews, Emerson Roland Herter, Oliver Thomas Herter and Owen Joseph Herter.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Skip Montet Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas (2845 S Union St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A rosary was held on Thursday, March 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 6:15 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Landry Catholic Church (1020 N Main St, Opelousas, LA 70570). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery (1020 N Main St, Opelousas, LA 70570).
