He was predeceased by: his father Ralph Ortego; his grandparents, Douglas, Josephine Ortego, Neil and Josephine McMillan; his brother Patrick Ortego; and his parents-in-law, Desmond Richard and Sadie Burleigh Richard.
He is survived by: his wife Wendy Richard Ortego; his mother Dorothy McMillan Ortego; his children, Tyler Ray Ortego (Kim) and Megan Noel Fontenot; his siblings, Bernard "Benny" Ortego (Denise), Robert "Bob" Ortego, Andrew Ortego, Neil Ortego, Berchman "Butch" Ortego (Sue), Ronald "Ronnie" Ortego (Connie), Martin Ortego, Theresa Hidalgo, Ruth Dohmann (Joe), Grace Roberie and Mary Ortego; and his grandchildren, Rylan Fontenot, Rowan Fontenot, Lucille Ortego, Charles Ortego and Katherine Ortego.
