It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Valair (Opelousas, Louisiana), who passed away on November 14, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Edward H. Valair; her parents, Alex Joseph Thibodeaux, Sr. and Deola Garrett Thibodeaux; her siblings, Delores Thibodeaux, Brenda Joseph and Warren Thibodeaux; her aunt Mable Garrett; her parents-in-law, Thomas and Marie Valair; her siblings-in-law, Jerolyn Valair, Janell Valair, June Valair, Lewanna Thibodeaux, Jeanette Thibodeaux, Murphy Valair, Martin Valair, John Valair, Van Valair, Anthony Hunt and William Lavergne; and her great-niece Jeanette Thibodeaux.
She is survived by: her children, Lucretia Valair Pitre (Joseph, Sr.) of Opelousas, LA and Rayland E. Valair of Crowley, LA; her siblings, Alex Thibodeaux, Jr. (Sylvia) of Slidell, LA, Raymond Thibodeaux of Opelousas, LA, Sylvia T. Lavergne of Lake Charles, LA, Clara Thibodeaux of Houston, TX and Belva Hunt of Houston, TX; her sisters-in-law, Mary Guillory (George) of Iota, LA, Veronica Bolden of Houston, TX and Jacqueline Valair of Tuson, AZ; and her grandchildren, Larenzo Valair of Abbeville, LA, Rodneaka Thibo of Crowley, LA, Jaelen Bias of Crowley, LA, Joseph L. Pitre, Jr. of Opelousas, LA and Jo'Mya L. Pitre of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
