He was predeceased by: his parents, Baxter Cockerham and Etta Whittington Cockerham; his wife Rose Cockerham; his daughter Edna LaCroix; his siblings, Huey "Frog" Cockerham, Bobby Joe Cockerham and Francis Westbrook; and the mother of his children Hazell Dayton.
He is survived by: his children, Louis "Buddy" Cockerham, Jr. (Paula), Robby Randall, Bonnie Bates (Troy) and Paula Hale (Delan); his brothers, W. B. "Bill" Cockerham (Mary Helen) and Kenneth Cockerham (Brenda); his grandchildren, Kodey, Kameron, Hunter, Alexis, Jesse, John David, Katelyn, Jana, Jason, Drake, Jordan, Whitney, Collin, Jacob and Ja'Kobi; his great grandchildren, Haze, John Louis, Kersyen, Nash, Avery, MaKayla, Luke, Gavin, Grace and Lilly; and his sister-in-law Bonnie Gresham.
