She was predeceased by: her husband Roderick Fontenot; her son-in-law Billy Lamar Johnson; her parents, Benjamin Hawkins and Lelia Eudora Hawkins; her stepmother Bessie Hawkins; and her siblings, George Hawkins, Thomas Hawkins, Mary Ann Lack and Estelle Shaffer.

She is survived by: her daughters, Gayle Johnson of Baton Rouge, Denise Ardoin (Ettel) of Sulphur and Donna Landry (Louis); her sister Elizabeth "Lonnie" (Thomas "Shooky" Myers); and her grandchildren, Billy Johnson of Chattanooga, Christopher Rutzen (Allison) of Prairieville, Carolyn Johnson of Covington, Lelia Thrasher (Derrick) of Crooked Creek, Sarah Bardin (Hunter) of Sulphur, Bridgette Vidrine (Johnathan) of Bayou Chicot, Nicole Rollins (Chris) of Lone Pine, Rebecca Hebert (Jonathan) of Lacassine and Angelo Bovara of Sierra Vista, Arizona. She is also survived by twenty great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
