He was predeceased by: his parents, George Franklin Cowden and Eva Inez Cowden (Collins); and his siblings, Eva Nell Misner, George "Huck" Cowden, Billy Ray Cowden, Fred Cowden and Ernest Cowden.
He is survived by: his siblings, Earl Cowden of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Bobby Cowden of Denton, Texas, David Wayne Cowden of Keithville, Louisiana, Jean Hopkins of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Margaret Faye Thompson of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Carrol Lynn Green of Kilbourne, Louisiana and Brenda Gail Cowden of Oak Grove. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
