We bid farewell to Bernice Douglas of New Sarpy, Louisiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 18, 2025 at the age of 78. Bernice touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Augillard and Isabella Augillard; her siblings, Johnnie Mae Evers, John, Emile and Wayne Augillard; her grandparents, Rena Hubbard and Isreal Hubbard; her aunts, Harriet Hubbard and Leola Washington; her uncle Alexander Washington; and her siblings-in-law, Grace Lewis, Willie Lee Miller, Leona Patterson, Mary Lee Joseph, Beulah Douglas, Myrtle, Inez, Pearl, Joseph Douglas, Roosevelt Douglas, Milton Douglas and Leroy Hill.
She is survived by: her children, Theresa Smothers (Wilfred) of Destrehan, LA, Penny Henry (Kim) of Laplace, LA, Isiah Douglas, III (Tonja) of Jacksonville, FL and Rewa Douglas of Lake Charles, LA; her siblings, Mary Eugene (Jerome), Barbara Hill, Irene Augillard, Ernest Augillard, Stacie Bell (Michael) and Sharlene Sanders (Theodore); her grandchildren, Wilfred Jr., Whitnie, Ireneisha, Wynrick, Amber, Corey, Trenice, Taylor, Ayana, Ashia and Jasmine; her great-aunt Theresa Howard; her godson Troy Payne; and her siblings-in-law, Lou Ethel Douglas, Lori Mae Augillard and Cardell Shorts (Jeanette).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Matthew Baptist Church (604 E S Johnson St, New Sarpy, LA 70078). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens (11316 River Rd, St Rose, LA 70087).
