She was predeceased by: her parents, Moses Riley and Classie Riley; her former husband Alvin Ellison; her grandmother Antoinette Lewis Jacobs; her siblings, Alberta Gant (Samuel), Leola Ancar (Vincent), Rebecca Ellison (Edgar), Olivia Mitchell (Leodis), James Riley (Yola), Classie Washington (George), Moses Riley, Bernice Riley and Virginia McCall (Willie); her siblings-in-law, Yvonne Riley, Calvin Ellison (Loise), Lionel Ellison (Pearlis), Samuel Ellison Jr. (Ursula) and Raymond Ellison (Leontine); her son-in-law James Hill; her grandchildren, Gail Shannon and Corey Shannon; and also Alvin Ellison.
She is survived by: her children, Myrna Ancar, Tyronne Riley (Tracy), Edward Riley (Shonda), Kathleen Riley Brown, Troy Riley, Yolanda Riley-Hill and Sharlen Ellison Bissant; her granddaughter Angela Farrish Riley; her godchildren, Lydia Phoenix and Clarence Mosley; her brother Isaiah Riley; and her siblings-in-law, Odile Ellison-Berry and Rose Ellison Marts (Herbert). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Second Baptist Church (2836 Sullen Pl, New Orleans, LA 70131). A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location. No matter how she was feeling, if it was a Sunday she wanted to make it to church, come rain, sleet, or COVID.
