She was predeceased by: her father Clarence Dowell; her brother Gerald Smith Sr.; and also, Rozena Oliver and Lloyd Oliver. She is survived by: her mother Geraldine Naomi Oliver; her husband Oliver Celestin Sr.; her children, Kateri Celestin-Williams, Kaneesha Celestin-Jones (Quincy Sr.) and Oliver Celestin Jr.; her grandchildren, Terrance Williams Jr. (My'Raia), Quincy Jones Jr., Quinn Jones, Oliver Celestin III and Sanaiah Celestin; her great grandchildren, McKenzie Williams, Terrance Williams III and Milani Williams; and her siblings, Charlotte Collier (Willie), Stefon Oliver (Delphine), Kyle Oliver (Maggie) and Jay Oliver (Shelmetha).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Fischer Community Church (1737 L B Landry Ave, New Orleans, LA 70114). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Her impact extended beyond the classroom as the founder of the Building Our Own Survival Team (BOOST) Foundation through which she spearheaded numerous programs benefiting youth, families, and small business owners.
