He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Finnerty Powell and Butler Powell, Sr.. He is survived by: his children, Stephen Powell (Kami) of Baton Rouge and Christine McDowell (Shane) of Plano; his brother Butler Powell, Jr. of New Orleans; and his grandchildren, Morgan McDowell, Macey Powell and Davis Powell.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Greenwood Funeral Home (5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:55 PM at the Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel (5200 Canal Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124).
