He is survived by: his children, Dominique Shemel Handy and Melvin Joseph Handy, III; his grandchildren, Amyrie and Kairo Handy; and his siblings, David Handy (Avenell), Jenell Boyd, Jocelyn Carney and Kim Handy. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
