Maybelle Downing Obituary

We are sad to announce that on June 15, 2024, at the age of 99, Maybelle Downing (New Orleans, Louisiana), born in Daphne, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, Maybelle is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Maybelle's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.

She was predeceased by: her husband John James "Jimmy" Downing; her parents, Geochino Filippone and Josephine Filippone; and her siblings, Pauline Austin, Josephine Radosti, Theresa Knox, Joseph and Mitchell Filippone.

She is survived by: her children, Patricia Ann Sanderson, James Edward Downing, Sr. (Kim), Michael Joseph Downing (Sandy) and Kathleen Downing Cooper (Paul). She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
