We bid farewell to Martha Jane Cockerham of New Orleans, Louisiana, born in Zachary, Louisiana, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on January 27, 2025 at the age of 91. Martha Jane touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Nathan Cockerham; her parents, William Harrison and Hazel Harrison; her son Raymond Cockerham; her siblings, Jessie, Clarence, Sr., Mamie and Raymond Harrison; her grandsons, Dedric Cockerham and Larry Gooden; and her aunts and uncles, Leola Jackson, Edith Smith, Maude Chasey, Robert Harvey, Willie William and Calvin Jackson.
She is survived by: her children, Hazel, Williams, Sr., Joe Cockerham, Cheryl Howard and Yvette Harrison. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Progressive Baptist Church (1214 S Robertson St, New Orleans, LA 70113). A celebration of life was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
