He was predeceased by: his parents, David Rolland Hooks and Linnie Rimes Hooks; his siblings, Dorathy Hooks Bonaguidi Sullivan and David R. Hooks, Jr. (Gloria); and his wife Joan Gunther Hooks.

He is survived by: his son Lamar O. Hooks, Jr. (Neal). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
