It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Junius Steven Nixon Jr. of New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on April 3, 2025, at the age of 73, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father Junius S. Nixon, Sr.; his sister Lillian Nixon Simmons; and his sons, Junius and Jerod Woods. He is survived by: his wife Valerie R. Nixon; his children, Junius, III (Clarice), Corey (Rachel) and Mallory Norman; his siblings, Michael, Adrienne, Dion and Dorselene Nixon; his grandchildren, Johnathan Harris, Rashad, Neikell, J'Nisha, Jaela, Jah'ya and Janell Nixon; his great grandchildren, Hermonie Allen (Toots), Jusiah Phillips, Laila Johnson and Brynlee Rae Harris; and his godchild Jerbette Early. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Third Baptist Church (206 Armstrong Ln, St Bernard, LA 70085). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
