He was predeceased by: his wife Esther Larks; his son Herbert Larks, Jr.; his parents, Curly Larks and Carrie Ernest; and his stepfather Joseph Ernest.
He is survived by: his children, Nadine Hughes, Vanessa Burse, Stanley Larks, Rodney Larks, Sherise Larks Swayne and Sheree Scott; his siblings, Judy Larks and Fay Larks; and his brother-in-law John E. Simpson, Jr.. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
