She was predeceased by: her parents, William Battiste and Ellen Harris Battiste; her brother William Battiste; her stepdaughter Stephanie Mitchell; her siblings, Alphonse, John, Ellen Ann Battiste Richardson and Delores Battiste; her brother-in-law Donald L. Richardson Sr.; her nephew Donald L. Richardson Jr.; and her niece Patrice Lynn Battiste.
She is survived by: her husband Richard Stanley Mitchell; her stepdaughter Ranet Mitchell; her brother Cornell Pierre (Joy); her niece Lynette Richardson Hampton (Henry); her great-nephews, Tyren Battiste and Clarence Mathews; her great-niece Destiny Mathews; and her close friend Tina Mikell. She is also survived by relatives and friends.
