She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom, Sr. Layman and Laura Layman; her husband Clarence Perkins; her son Glen Berniard; and her siblings, John Laymon, Sr., Thomas Laymond, Jr., Charles Layman, Sr. and Mildred Layman Perriatt.
She is survived by: her niece Taris Laymond; her children, Morris Berniard (Claudia), Ronald Berniard (Julie), Donald Berniard (Sheila), Sheila Berniard Burns (Ronald, Sr.) and Greg Berniard (Mildred); and her grandchildren, Shelly Berniard-Mendez, Damian Johnson (Tonya), Nadia Knight, Sean Berniard (Brandi), Seneca Berniard Connor (Ryan), Immanuel Jones, Donielle Edwards, Ronald "Vinnie" Burns, Jr., Jason Burns, Sr. and Jade Berniard. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church (8282 I-10 Service Rd, New Orleans, LA 70126). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. Face mask and social distancing strongly encouraged.
