With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ray Joseph Sonnier (New Iberia, Louisiana), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 28, 2024 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Luc'Sonnier Sonnier and Laurence Delahoussaye Sonnier; his former wife Luc'SonnierFather; his siblings, Alton Sonnier, Jedeon Sonnier (Anna), Curtis Sonnier (Gail), Verna Sonnier Istre (Whitney), Rose Belle Sonnier Dumond (Elray) and Isabelle Sonnier Lapointe (Ned); and his godson Johnny Connor.
He is survived by: his wife Joy Rita; his children, Sylvia Dartez (Mitch), Kevin Sonnier and Loretta "Lynn" Bonin (Ty); his grandchildren, Angel Bonin (Braidon), Joshua Sonnier (Alyssa), Ryan Bonin (Kayla), Mitch Dartez (Alli Seaux) and Micah Bonin (Bailey); his great grandchildren, Peyton Boutte, Luke Bonin, Aria Sonnier, Haislee Faulk, Jackson Sonnier, Livie Bonin, Beckham Dartez and Briggs Derise; his siblings-in-law, Jerry Bourque, Gordy Bourque, Wilsie Connor and Vernice Sierra; and his godchildren, Eddie Toups, Connie Sonnier of Gerald, Bourque, Jr. and Pamela Broussard.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM at the Evangeline Funeral Home (314 E St Peter St, New Iberia, LA 70560). A rosary was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1303 St Jude Ave, New Iberia, LA 70560). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, October 30th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
