It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael John Shield of New Iberia, Louisiana, born in Burlington, Vermont, who passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 67, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Michael John leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Michael John may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Shield and Glendyce Johnson Shield; his wife Mary Vercher Shield of New Iberia; his children, Morgan Kenner (Andy) of Seattle, WA, Taylor Shield of San Diego, CA and Derek Landry of Lake Charles; his sister Nancy Guillmette (Freddy) of Naples, FL; and his cousin Lori "Bean" Nelson.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pellerin Funeral Home - New Iberia (502 Jefferson Terrace, New Iberia, LA 70560). A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
