We are sad to announce that on February 8, 2025, at the age of 17, Lyla Sophie Nugent of New Iberia, Louisiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Lyla Sophie leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.

She was predeceased by: her grandfathers, Charles Fenner and Warren Nugent. She is survived by: her parents, John Cory Nugent and Virginia McIlhenny Nugent of Lafayette; her brother JohnWarren McIlhenny Nugent of Lafayette; and her grandparents, Edmund McIlhenny (Pam McIlhenny) of Austin, Brenda Fenner of New Orleans and Betty Nugent of Lafayette. She is also survived by aunts, uncle, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the The Grove. A celebration of life was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
