He was predeceased by: his parents, James Roy Briggs, Sr. and Della Julie Bartek Briggs; and his brother Daniel Scott Briggs. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Boutte Briggs; his daughter Angelica B. Derouen (Kevin); his stepchildren, Damien "DJ" LaBiche, Kim, Dusti-Kay LaBiche, Dane LaBiche and Mitzi; his grandchildren, Gabriel LaBiche, Dominic LaBiche, Kaden LaBiche, Dray Landry, Jax Landry, Bryce Nelams, Brie-ann Robicheaux and Haiden Robicheaux; and his sisters, Madonna Jean Tyler and Constance "Connie" Ann Adams.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
