She was predeceased by: her parents, Ben Nathan and Louise White Nathan; her husband Samuel Cooper, Jr.; her brothers, Willie Jay Nathan, Sr., Darryl Bernard Nathan and Ben Nathan, Jr.; her granddaughters, Simone Riley and Samantha Reagan Cooper; her niece Mamie Renee Nathan Poole; and her parents-in-law, Samuel Cooper Sr. and Gladys Cooper.
She is survived by: her children, Samuel W. Cooper III (Cori) of Smyrna, GA, Bethany Jeanine Cooper of Jeanerette, LA and Dr. Kristie Anne Cooper; her cousin Dr. Darren; her siblings, Ronald Lee Nathan of Jeanerette, LA, Jacqueline Nathan of New Iberia, LA, Gwendolyn Key (Delaney) of Jeanerette, LA, Iris Lynn Stevenson and Valenti Joubert of Lake Charles, LA; her grandchildren, Brenton Mason Cooper of Baton Rouge, LA, Brock Jacob Cooper of Smyrna, GA and Danielle Simone; and her siblings-in-law, Darrel Cooper (Evelyn), Sheila Cooper Hall (Renaldo Sr.) and Mabel Jo Nathan. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
As a family and community historian, her passion for history was equally evident with insightful contributions to various community projects, ensuring that future generations would understand and appreciate the rich history of her beloved community.
