It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Annie Simmons (New Iberia, Louisiana), born in Lafayette, Louisiana, who passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Henry Sr. and Cecilia Cormier Henry; her husbands, Anthony Curtis and Leo Harold Simmons; and her children, Alvin Curtis and Barbara Jane Curtis.
She is survived by: her children, Melvin Curtis Sr. (Eulalie), Arthur Curtis Sr., Davis Charles Curtis (Dawn), Linda Thomas (Pionell), Anna Mason (Freddie) and Debra Curtis Sam (Derrick); and her siblings, Cecillia Woolery and Jessie James Henry. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
