He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Cooks and Thomas Cooks; his daughter Kina Darensbourg; and his siblings, Perry Jupiter, Johnnie Mae Singleton, Mary Ann Cooks and Winnie Sasfras.
He is survived by: his former wife Berlen Cooks; his children, Sterling E. Robinson, Tina Darensbourg, Aquista Cooks Robertson (Lance) and Zekeydre Robinson; and his siblings, Ulysses Cooks, Margurite Dorsey (Royal), Olivia Washington (Warren) and Brenda Cooks. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
