He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Robert Dempsey and Velma Lee Patterson Dempsey; his siblings, Roger, Gus, Bobby and Lucille; and his half-sister Faye.
He is survived by: his wife Carrie Burney Dempsey of Mooringsport, LA; his children, Susan Dempsey of Vivian, LA, Robert Dempsey (Sonya) of Bossier City, LA and Johnny Dempsey (Gina) of Shreveport, LA; his stepchildren, Nick Denison of Shreveport, LA and Emily King (Ryan) of Bossier City, LA; and his siblings, Estelle Adcock of Gilliam, LA, Queenie Blizzard (Butch) of Atlanta, TX, Sue Howell of Vivian, LA, Doyle Dempsey (Linda) of Haughton, LA and Jimmy Dempsey (Peggy) of Vivian, LA. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
