She was predeceased by: her husband Melvin Alvin Matthews; her parents, Joseph Chester Goolsby and Bertha Ellen Goolsby; and her siblings, Loretta Matthews, Ruby McKibben, Ruth Ann Brown, Linda Brown, Billie Wooten, Alfred Goolsby and Ricky Goolsby.
She is survived by: her children, Steven Scott Matthews, Jamie Lum (Bo Lum) and Christopher Matthews (Hillarai Matthews); her grandchildren, Josie Matthews, Dakota Matthews, Michelle Matthews, Alandra Singson and Harlea Kay Lum; her great grandchildren, Luna Eve Nicole Thurston and Riley Rayne McMillon; and her siblings, Martha Hemphill and John Matthews (Debra Matthews).
