He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome A. Blate of Miami and Janet Erlanger Blate Altman of Canton, Ohio.; his brother Steve Blate (Jeannine); his nephew Mike of Canton; his brother Larry Blate of Tampa, Florida.; his in-laws, Babette and Stewart Doernberg of Monroe; and also Dr. Hugh Lamensdorf of Fort Worth.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Jo Doernberg; his son Don (Beth); his grandchildren, Sam and Hannah; his son Richard (Shira); his grandchildren, Abby and Joie; his son Kevin (Amy) of Atlanta, GA.; and his cousin Judy Fleischer Marx (Don Marx) of Monroe, LA.. He is also survived by his family, friends.
A memorial service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Temple B'Nai Israel (2400 Orell Pl, Monroe, LA 71201).
