He was predeceased by: his son Roy; his parents, Tonzie McCowin and Etta McCowin; his brothers, Tonzie, Jr. and Harvey McCowin; and his son-in-law Roy Stanley.
He is survived by: his wife Lela Myrtle McCowin; his sister Lannie Thompson; and his children, Jettie Stanley, Beth Lively (Robert), Bobby McCowin (Rita) and Robbie Hawsey (Andy). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital for his fondness of children.
