He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie B. Stewart, Sr. and Naomi Stewart; and his grandson Brandon Stewart. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Stewart; his children, Susan Stewart Sivils (Michael Sivils), Eddie R. Stewart, Jr. and Arthur L. Stewart (Evelyn Stewart); his grandchildren, Sarah Morgan Lawrence (John Kade), Stewart Sivils and Oliver Sivils; and his siblings, Sylvia Brown (late Ritchie Brown) and Timothy Stewart (Brenda).
