He is survived by: his wife Stephanie Dawson Abell; his children, Graham Nelson Abell and Claire Dawson Abell Fletcher (Nate); his grandchildren, Jack Hughes Fletcher and Georgia Nell Fletcher; and his brothers, Graham Hughes Abell and Dixon Warren Abell.
