He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli Gilchrist and Odell Gilchrist; his sister Kathy Snell (Don); his son-in-law Charles "Mickey" Alexander; and his great grandchild Ellie Grace Thompson.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara J. Gilchrist of Monroe; and his children, Katrina "Tina" Alexander of Monroe, Kimberly Johnson (Wesley) of Lake Charles, Chris Gilchrist of Glenmora and Lenora "Nora" WillBanks (Adam) of Ruston. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 16th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Harmony Baptist Church (805 10th St, Glenmora, LA 71433). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 16th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
