She was predeceased by: her parents, Obie Lee Brown Turnage and Dillard Danny Turnage; her stepmother Alma Louise Turnage; and her siblings, Patsy Louise Vallery and Bobby Hugh Turnage.
She is survived by: her husband Herschel E. Thornton, Sr.; her daughter Janis Cobb (Doug); her grandchildren, Eugene Thornton, Eugene DeBeau Thornton (Christy Antley), Brandi Rene'Thornton, Justin Douglas Cobb (Kaitlyn Rhodes) and Ginny Lea Cobb; her great grandchildren, Dylan Kelly, Anna Kelly, Samuel Battaglia, Hayden Cobb and Eli Green; her great great grandchild Emberlynn Peck; her brother Edwin Turnage (Jackie); her sisters-in-law, Nelda Hendrix and Pamela Thornton; and her close friends, Brenda Fletcher and Geraldine Cloyd (Jerry).
