He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Richard McDonald, Sr. and Leuna Poda McDonald; his stepfather Leon Dyer (Patsy Crain McDonald); and his brother Donnie McDonald. He is survived by: his wife Jo Hale McDonald; his son Richard Scott McDonald (Leazel Fields); his stepdaughters, Teri Hale Weber (Steve) and Trish Hale Botoff (Ron); his grandchildren, Tucker Richard McDonald and McKenzie McDonald-Christensen (Andrew); his stepgrandchildren, Scott Weber and Haley Weber (Sarah); his great grandchild Nora Weber; and his nephew Donovan McDonald (Claudine).
Charles was a longtime member of the ULM Athletic Foundation, ULM Alumni Association and was honored by ULM as a "Golden Arrow Award" recipient.
