He was predeceased by: his parents, Mammie Via, and Elbert Via, Sr.; his grandson Philip Aaron Soignier; and his brother John "Jay" E. Via. He is survived by: his friends, Dr. David Uth and Dr. Dennis Swanberg; his wife Linda Welch Via; his daughter Kimberlynn Via Lewing; his grandson Nathaniel Luke Soignier; his sisters, Yvonne Via Norman and Rita Via Moak; his nieces and nephews, Angel Via Liles, Debbie Harris, Jackie Norman, Sherri Norman, Brent Via, Bradley Via, Christopher Grimm, Jason Grimm and John Via, Jr.; and his great-nephew Matthew Arendsen. He is also survived by many other great nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.
