He was predeceased by: his parents, Aline Bordes Gillen and Richard J. Gillen, Sr.; his son Drew Gillen; and his sister Janet Gillen Robinson. He is survived by: his wife Carole Faye Fresh Gillen; his children, Lisa Staehle (Edgar), Richard, III (Louis), Chris (Mary), Todd (Loriann) and Cort Gillen; his grandchildren, Chad Petersen (Wendy), Hollie Dugas, Paul Schuler (Jennifer), R. J. Gillen, IV (Natalie), Naomi Gillen, Laura Parker (J. D.), Olivia, Conner Gillen, Sophie, Avie, Katherine and Margaret Gillen; his great grandchildren, Emily, Camryn Petersen, Avery Dugas, Nash Schuler, Grace, Gigi Gillen, Rhys and Madeleine Parker; and his brother Ronald Gillen. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church (10021 Jefferson Hwy, River Ridge, LA 70123). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 18th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
