She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert William Swanton and Christine Normandale Swanton; her husband Charles George Coates, Sr.; her children, Charlotte Coates Jones and Charles George Coates, Jr.; her grandchildren, Ellen Coates and Robert "Bobby" Joseph Coates, Jr.; and her brothers, Robert W. Swanton and Arthur Swanton.
She is survived by: her children, Robert Joseph Coates, Sr., Charlene Coates Schaub (Ruppert) and Michael Patrick Coates. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home (4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70006). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
